Hi. I’m Liesl (pronounced lee-zul.) I live in rural Northwestern New Jersey with my family on land that has been in our family for many generations. I’m a dreamer, a lover, a loner, an ethical
vegetarian omnivore, a maker of lists and a beauty seeker. I love to read and sew and knit, find and listen to new (and old) music and take photos, especially with film. Lately I’ve become a bit of a budding gardener. My ultimate dream is to live a simple, self-sufficient-ish life as a homemaker. A small plot of land with a big garden and a little house with a big kitchen would be ideal.
Other random things: I love the color gray, natural fibers, Irish Wolfhounds, and the smell of elderflowers. I’m an INFJ. I rarely, if ever, read the introductions in books. I’m a twin. Autumn is the best season. When I was younger, I dreamed of being an architect, interior designer or waitress (mostly because I could wear my favorite red apron.)
About Liesl Made: The Blog
Simply put, this blog is a place for me to share, document (and even hold myself accountable for) things in my life. I blog about various things including sewing, knitting and craft in general; music, books, photography and art; fashion, style and design; gardening and homemaking; recipes and foods.
I put a lot work into this space here (all the content and photos and words.) I would say more that 99% of the photos here are originals. If you’d like to re-post more that one photo or a large amount of my content in one place, please contact me first. You are welcome to pin/share images on sites like Pinterest, Tumblr, etc but please try to link it back to my blog or one of my profiles (like Flickr.) If you see a mistake in my linking or inappropriate usage of any material, let me know. I will fix it or even remove it.
Also please understand that this blog is just a window into my life. Although I believe in being open and am very willing to share my home-y adventures, this is the internet and there are certain aspects of my life I don’t share and certain people I do not talk about here.
When I remember, I do the Amazon Associate Program where the links I shared to products on Amazon.com give me a small percentage for the referral if you ended up buying something.
Sometimes you may see the phrase “c/o”. This stands for “courtesy of” and means the shop has sent me this item with the agreement that I would blog about it (by incorporating it into an outfit post, mentioning or reviewing it, etc) I would never accept anything I would not buy myself and I would never blog about an item I didn’t think was quality. Any reviews are honest opinions, straight from me. I also believe the handmade/indie community needs to support each other and I love to be able to help promote great goods. I will always have full disclosure and honesty with these items.
About Liesl Made: The Shop
In 2006 I started a small shop (also called Liesl Made) on Etsy. After a year and a half long hiatus, I reopened in late summer of 2013. I’m hoping to re-lauch in earlier 2014 with all new goods.
My Dad also has a shop on Etsy where he sells handmade wooden wares. It’s called Buckaloo View.
