Winter Finds

Liesl Made : Winter Finds Liesl Made : Winter Finds Liesl Made : Winter Finds

It’s Friday and I normally share a list of weekly finds (movies, books, links, photos, tutorials, etc) but I honestly don’t have any such. Instead I’ve been wandering around outside finding things. We had a break in the bitter cold temperatures so I went out and sloshed around the muddy yard to do a little investigating.

I see there is a handful of jimson weed in the berry patch. My father stressed that jimson is a nightmare so all summer long I made an extra effort to pull the young growths from the garden before they got too big. See, once the pod forms and breaks open, all those seeds will scatter and create even more spreading. We never had it here until it traveled over with the manure we get from a friend every spring. (While grabbing a link to add to this post, I learned that it’s poisonous as well!)

A few berries clung to the vine (albeit dead and dried up.)

The Rose of Sharon is also dead and dried up but still beautiful in this winter landscape.

I also spotted the veryvery beginnings of small dogwood buds! (Not pictured.)

How does your winter look?
