Outtakes and Happenings

I think I got my quota of screen time last week, so this week I’m avoiding the computer as much as I can. I hope you’ll accept this random pile of outtakes and happenings that didn’t make it into any recent posts.

Lily checking out my new DIY ombre dress. (Details coming soon.)

One of my Mom’s (circa early ’90s) belts jazzing up one of my handmade dresses. Plus an I Heart Roses Ring via a swap with Pretty Wit.

Another detail shot of one of my recent outfits. Guess I’m trying to rock that schoolmarm-y look. (cardi-LaRedoute, top-handmade, skirt-vintage.)

Been reading (or rereading) some great books: Office Girl, The Madman, Farm Anatomy, The Backyard Homestead and Pronoia.

Pressing leaves.

Banana-Nut Waffles. (Recipe via The Veganomicon. Found it online here.)

I finally made my friend Mary’s White Chocolate Pumpkin Cookies. Make them. They are so good!

I was on vacation during the last presidential election, which made me aware of the absentee ballot. Luckily, here in NJ they consider “lazy” a valid enough excuse, so I am doing it again this year. (I couldn’t find a nicely organized national page with info on absentee voting so just google your state and “absentee ballot” and you should find out all need to know to request a ballot.)

My Dad made a double batch of homemade granola.

And homemade hamburger buns.

Sitting around the fire.

I’ll see you guys Friday. Maybe?
Hope your week is going great.

  1. We like to make a fire outside and enjoy it, too! Have fun!

  2. I think my mom has a belt just like that in her closet still! Can’t wait to see your ombré dress

  3. Your life seems so rich!

  4. I love posts like this one, you have a lot of great stuff going on these days!

  5. It’s schoolmarm chic, girl.

All of that food looks positively delicious — the pumpkin cookies in particular. Those are definitely happening in this house. I’ve even got a perfect tiny pumpkin that the garden decided to spit out last minute.

I’m intrigued by this ombre dress. I’ve seen many ’round Internet Land, and love to see the variety. Your cat is a really gorgeous color, by the way. Smoke and spiced leaf.

    xo

  6. Banana nut waffles? Things like that remind me of why I went vegetarian years ago. Gotta get back there again.
