There is something about the changing of summer into autumn (and winter into spring) that unsettles your bones. Sometimes the rattling is disturbing and painful. Other times it’s just what you need to shake yourself forward.

How does autumn (or the changing of seasons in general) make you feel?

  1. I love watching your blog and seeing the exact opposite seasons unfolding – it’s just hit spring here and the first day was glorious.

Previously, the seasons was linked to a cycle of study and work for me as I worked as a lifeguard over summer while doing my uni course. Now more and more I find it linked to the cycle of our garden – and not just the veggies but the changes in all the plants we have surrounded our house with.

  2. I am so thankful there is a cool breeze this morning. It has been so hot and humid here I have hardly been able to go outside. Just so unusual from what I can remember over the past few years. For awhile now, I have been wishing for snow…just bypass Fall, my favorite time of year, and just become Winter. I am tired of sweating without earning the sweat.

Now, down to business…Liesl, you can Thrift for me anytime at all!! You have the cutest outfits on in all your pics!! I’m not really a jewelry person, although I have some very nice things, I just am not comfortable wearing glitter!! Just call me Plain Jane, not my name, but it fits me!!

    • I’m not much of a jewelry person either. This is one of my more accessorized looks. Normally, I keep it simple because I fear I don’t know how to mix and match jewelry. Not to mention I often my hands in dirt or soapy water! Thanks so much for commenting, Jennifer. :)

  3. Cute duds, chicky.

I love the big transitions in nature. They always feel like bright, new beginnings for me, and this fall is the most welcome of any I’ve ever experienced, I think. So full of promise.

I was outside early this morning and an actual *fog* had settled itself on this mountain top like a crown. The tomatoes were dripping in dew as I picked them, and made mud on my hands.

    xo

  4. Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year because of the cooling down (I prefer about 70 degrees) as well as the leaves changing and the weird weather. However, it makes me nervous because it leads to the winter of my heart: winter.

A period which has its advantages, of course (how wonderful is it it to come home to a warm house and warp yourself up in blankets?) but has to be my least favorite time of the year.

    • Wrap yourself up rather. If you can warp yourself up with blankets, Mister You’re A Better Man Than I.

    • I think I like autumn and spring best because they are so short and precious. Forces you to stop and enjoying them while you can. Winter (and summer) and their extreme temperatures drag on a little too long for my taste. And warping myself in blankets sounds like a pretty awesome trick. ;) Thanks for commenting, Eric.

  5. The change is wonderful, summer to autumn brings cool fresh air makes me so so happy to be alive and get on ! Can you see I just love it!

  6. This time of year always makes me feel a bit melancholy, like I’m already missing the sight of my bare legs and arms and realize it won’t be long before they’ve gone into hibernation. I think you’ve just inspired a very sad post for me. Beautiful photos! You’ve captured a great feeling.

    • Thank you, Lesley. I realize I am a rarity in my love for autumn because like you, many folks are mourning summer and dreading winter this time of year. Like I said in a previous comment, I love winter but by February, I’ll admit I get tired of the cold.
